 Mature gamer was officially launched the 4th November 2007, the initial intention was to create a resource community for the more mature gamer after witnessing the opposite. I managed to get a make shift site up and started building the forums which are still in place today. In addition to the forums, I added a blog, gallery etc to offer a range of services for those that would come to the community in the future.

Quite quickly, I had a lot of friends etc asking if they could join the community and it was then that I decided to we could do with a teamspeak also, as it was a good place to share ideas and gauge the opinions of those who were showing an interest. At this stage I was mainly playing Battlefield 2 and hotly awaiting the release of the visually stunning Call of Duty 4.
Upon the release of COD4, BF2 found itself back in the case and a finished game as far as I am concerned and that opinion is reflected by thousands of gamers flooding over to Call of Duty 4. It was at this point that mature-gamer really came into its own, with a bit more organization and dedication. 1shotsi and myself then decided to go and rent a 32 player Call of Duty 4 server, we financed that between ourselves.

The purchase of the server was really key to the rapid growth of the community that we were about to discover. A small but well known clan called =SP= joined the community and bought a wealth of Call Of duty experience to the community, this led to the community improving dramatically from not only a skill point of view, but also tactically. We then started with a few friendlys and decided to join Euro domination. At first as expected we had a few defeats as we started to get our plans and ideas together. Myself and 1shotsi decided to go and pay the server up front for the next twelve months, it was at this stage that we also decided that we were going to require a match server also.
193.93.47.174:28961 We then proceeded to join CCODL, which for our first season we did very well finishing 4th in our first season and also finishing 3rd in a Euro Domination Cup. This then led to the birth of Team-mguk as we wanted to ensure that we had a very competitive outlook as a community, (the team-mguk stuff can be viewed via the matches link at the top of this page)At this stage myself and 1shotsi were approached by some old friends of whom we have gamed with since 2000 and they wanted to come join the community, we gladly agreed and the community doubled in size. All in all we had a lot of =WCG= members come join us at Team-mguk and they have settled into the community fantastically embracing our way of playing the game and keeping the comical banter on teamspeak, back to the old school. As it stands today, we have a fantastic skilled community competing in leagues such as E-dom, CCODL & TWL and we play plenty of friendly’s at various times. We will also be competing in the COD4 tournament at the i34 series at Stoneliegh park. As an FPS community we are looking forward to the forth coming BF and COD titles and of course as a community we do play other games also: whether it be FMLive, Pro Evo, Toca 3 Company of Heroes! What we have at =MGUK= is one massive thing in common, and that’s we are "all keen gamers!" within a friendly community.
